Parish Ministry

Please contact Jodi Ann Kasky (motiv8bgr8@gmail.com) if you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, Lector or Extraordinary Minister of Communion.

Children in the parish who have received their First Holy Communion (usually 3rd grade) are invited to serve at the Altar.  Altar servers assist the Priest at Mass.

O God, You have graciously called me to serve You upon Your altar. Grant me the graces that I need to serve You faithfully and wholeheartedly. Grant too that while serving You, may I follow the example of St. Tarcisius, who died protecting the Eucharist, and walk the same path that led him to Heaven.

St. Tarcisius, pray for me and for all servers.

The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. He or she may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and recite the Psalm between the readings.

Come Holy Spirit, into my mind and my heart as I read these Sacred Scriptures.

Inspire me with your grace to proclaim this Living Word with sincerity and reverence. Help me to focus on the Word and discern its meaning so that I can communicate it clearly and enthusiastically. Each time I approach the Ambo, remind me that I am on holy ground and that the Ministry of proclaiming the Scriptures is a sacred trust. I place all my trust in you, that through your power, the people of God will hear and accept the Word into their hearts.

Eucharistic Ministers prayerfully serve the people of St. Jude by distributing the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for calling me to serve You and Your people in this community as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. You know that I could never be worthy of such an exalted honor. Help me to be less unworthy by remaining free of sin. Let me nourish Your people with the witness of my life as I feed them with the Body of Christ. Grant Your strength and holiness to all Your extraordinary ministers and make them worthy to bring Christ to others.   Amen

Sung prayer reaches its high point in the sacred liturgy, the public worship of the Church. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is made more beautiful by the singing of every Catholic, who is called to active participation—through sung prayer, especially—in the Mass.

If you have been blessed with musical ability, perhaps you would like to join the Church of St. Jude Choir.
