MATRIMONY

"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament."

-Catechism of the Catholic Church 1601

Weddings at St. Jude

Weddings are typically held on Saturdays at 1 pm in the church. If you are a parishioner at St. Jude and are seeking to be married in the church, please call 6 months in advance to request a date for the wedding ceremony.

In preparation for their marriage, couples are required to participate in a formal marriage preparation program.

Opportunities for Marriage Preparation include:

In order to be properly disposed to receive the graces that Christ wishes to impart in the Sacrament, a person must be properly disposed. This disposition comes through a devout practice of the faith, and a worthy confession of sin before the reception of the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Therefore, couples preparing for marriage are also expected to attend Sunday Mass and receive the Sacrament of Penance in preparation for the reception of the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Members of other faiths are strongly encouraged to participate regularly in worship according to the laws of their own religious communities.
