Providing for the Present

Online Giving

Simple and secure, you can give a single gift or set up recurring donations.

Gifts of Securities

If you own stocks, mutual funds or other securities that have increased in
value, and you have owned them for more than one year, it can be wise
to use them to make charitable gifts. The new law retained the special tax
benefits that come with making charitable gifts in this way. You may still claim a deduction for their full market value, not just the amount you paid, and you do not have to pay capital gains tax that would be owed if you sold those securities and donated the proceeds.

Ensuring the Future

Do you have a desire to help St. Jude, but feel overwhelmed by the thought of writing another check or giving up your assets today? A simple, flexible and versatile way to ensure we can continue our work for years to come is a gift in your will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest.  By including a bequest to St. Jude in your will or living trust, you are ensuring the future of our parish.

Building on a Firm Foundation

We are making progress on the plans for our new Church.  Our initial pledges came in at nearly $1.4 million and to date we have over $1,231,683.21 in gifts.  We still need to raise at least $1,175,000 to be able to begin construction.

Fr. Michael is working to secure additional gifts and gifts in kind (materials & labor).

For more information or if you would like to make a pledge or give a gift, please contact the rectory at 815-725-2209.

The Dorothy & Romy Hammes Family

St. Jude Parish was founded and built through the generosity of the Hammes Family and the determination of the first families that made St. Jude their home. The Hammes family donated the land and much of the funding for both the school and the original church and at their request, the new parish was named for St. Jude. Their son, Jerry Hammes was recently honored by PBS. Click here to learn more about the Hammes Family

Support St. Jude Catholic School

Empower Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship

The State of Illinois initiated a new program entitled Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship Program which provides Illinois children access to new scholarships that could cover up to 100% of tuition – depending on their family’s level of need.  Those who contribute to this program will receive an Illinois income tax credit equal to 75% of their contribution.   This is an amazing opportunity to simultaneously support Catholic education while significantly reducing, or eliminating, your Illinois income tax liability at the same time.

As you know, St Jude Catholic School offers an outstanding education rooted in the Catholic faith.  Unfortunately, there are families at St Jude who are in need and would qualify for these scholarships, but the assistance cannot be granted without the necessary funding.  With the end of the year approaching, now is the time for you to consider participating in this unique opportunity to earn a significant tax savings for yourself, while giving children at our school the gift of a Catholic education.

If you would like to explore this significant tax savings strategy further, I encourage you to discuss this as soon as possible with your own tax professional.   Or you may call the Parish office at 815-725-2209 and someone will be able to assist you.
